Stars draw attention and that was precisely what they did on Thursday at a function organised to mark the inauguration of the Chennai International Screenwriting workshop at IIT. A large number of media personnel turned up at the event, which was attended by a host of stars including Kamal Haasan and Balu Mahendra. In fact, so many journalists turned up for the event that a few of the academics, including Idichandy, the dean of students, were stunned. A visibly impressed Idichandy said, “Frankly, I’m a little nervous. It is for the first time that I’m seeing such a big gathering of media personnel here.” On a lighter vein, he remarked that he wasn’t sure if he’d see such a big gathering of the media if one of the professors at the IIT were awarded a Nobel prize.
