I am a vegetarian so it becomes difficult to find good food abroad. Once when I was shooting in Thailand , I had a tough time. There is a particular instance that I can never forget. One day while I was shooting I felt hungry so I went to the local market in search of food. I found many food stalls there but to my horror all they had was cooked snakes, lizards and rat pickles. One vendor even tried to show me how to eat them. I lost my cool and yelled at him. Since then, every time I go abroad I carry food that can be stored —theplas, sweet koki rotis, methi rotis and cup noodles.
I swear by South Indian food. You can give me sambar, rasam and drumsticks any time of the day and I will relish it. I also love the tangy and spicy pickle that you find in these parts of the country. Curd rice is something that I can’t do without.
