The star cast Hritik Roshan and Aishwaya Rai Bachchan and crew of the latest Bollywood hit Jodha Akbar arrived in the city to inaugurate the Telugu version of the movie. To a volley of questions on the historical background of the movie which was questioned by Rajput descendants, the crew said that the relationship between Jodhaa and Akbar “cannot be erased from history’’.
“We had gathered enough material on the historical evidence about Jodhaa’s existence. There are references to her marriage with Akbar even in school textbooks. There is no room for doubt on this issue,” film director Asuthosh Gowarikar said.
The film was banned in some states, including Rajasthan, however, the Supreme Court set aside the ban. Speaking to the media on the Telugu version, Gowarikar said in the dubbed version they had taken care to show the difference between Akbar’s Telugu and Jodhaa’s language to show cultural and religious differences.
