Vishal did just few films but already boasts of three smash hits in Tamil and Telugu- Pandem Kodi, Pogaru and Bhayya. In quick time, Vishal, son of producer GK Reddy, has become a name to reckon with in the Tamil and Telugu film industry. His new film called Satyam is incidentally being simultaneously shot in Telugu as well, all his earlier movies having hitherto only been dubbed into Telugu. “I play a cop in the film and this would be my first attempt at portraying a police officer,” says the actor, explaining that his new, lean and mean look is especially for this film.
Satyam will see the actor pair up with Nayantara, while Kannada superstar Upendra adds to the star cast as the villain. Vishal, who began his career with a flop romantic flick Prema Chadarangam, switched gears in his next two films, Pandem Kodi and Pogaru, which incidentally were home productions, and donned the action cap. Was it a conscious decision to create an action hero image? “Not exactly. Pandemkodi and Pogaru weren’t just action flicks; they just had all elements required for a commercial movie. Post these two films, people have been convinced that I can do action successfully. But yes, I have trained in Taekwondo for some time, so am comfortable doing action,” says the actor, who’s fascinated with Korean films.
